$214,504 Total Raised For MND

PaR nz Golfing Holidays with host club, Windross Farm staged our final tournament of the year – our MND Invitational.

This was the PaR nz team’s way of thanking those golfers and friends who had travelled and supported our company over many years, especially those who gave us support in 2020 -2022 during some incredibly tough trading times. It was also a way that we could continue to promote the awareness of one of the worst diseases still affecting about 300 per year in New Zealand, MND, in a most cruel and unforgiving way.

The day was made extra special with the arrival of 2 VIPs from The University of Auckland’s Centre for Brain Research – Professor Sir Richard Faull and Dr Emma Scotter. Both gave entertaining accounts of their commitment to research in New Zealand to find a cure for MND, a terrible disease which sadly right now is a terminal illness and affects more kiwi’s per capita than any other country in the world!

Sir Richard a ‘Naki’ boy gave an account of how important it was to keep connected with family and community and how critical it was for the Centre to have a succession plan so the world-class ground-breaking research could continue and achieve its goals.

Sir Richard and Dr Emma invited golfers to visit the University to view their work at the Brain Bank. Sir Richard told golfers that playing golf was important for a healthy brain! Dr Emma gave accounts of her work in collecting data from MND sufferers but also her work on identifying genes which are associated with having MND.

Our golf day raised $11,070 for MND through some very generous donations from our golfers who acknowledged the science contribution and the PaR nz support of the charity. Our MND raffle with 3 magnums of Sauvignon Blanc from The CUT was extremely well supported; 3 lucky winners will be enjoying an extra special Xmas lunch.

At the end of 2023, PaR nz has donated $214,504 to MND.

The day is about the camaraderie and enjoyment of the game but as always the top scores were announced with prizes awarded with the support of our sponsor Titleist. Winners on the day with 46 points in a 4BBB format were Carl (Mercury Bay) paired with Di (Walton). It was a close contest with Nigel (Fairview) & Karen (Mangawhai) coming in second on 45 points. Third place was Keith (Waitemata) & Raewyn (Omokoroa) on 43 points.
