Olympic Finish @ Denarau

The World in Union at the 2024 Sheraton Fiji Denarau Women’s Golf Classic

It was a celebration of the ‘world in union’ at the prize giving night of the 20th annual Sheraton Fiji Denarau Women’s Golf Classic in Fiji. The tournament is owned and hosted by Denise & Kim from PaR nz Golfing Holidays who are passionate about supporting the Fiji local economy by bringing over 200 golfers to Fiji each year.

The tournament theme this year was the Olympics and players came dressed in country costumes from all over the world for the Closing Ceremony. The Sheraton Chefs prepared an international feast which was served on the beach front and contributed greatly to the success of the evening.

Prize winners were awarded Fiji style Olympic medals for their placing in the 54-hole tournament. Players had competed over 3 days playing 4BBB, Foursomes and Combined Stableford. The winning score was 166 points by tournament regular Judith Griffiths paired with newbie Tisha Searles. The pair are both members of the Indooroopilly in Queensland, The pairing were consistent scorers across the 3 rounds, scoring 47, 40 and 79 points.

The surprise of the day was the 3rd placed pairing of Anita Lafferty and Kim Higgie from Cambridge and Tieke GC. They kept themselves in touch with the leaders after 2 rounds but their rockstar score of 84 points in Round 3 bolted them to win the bronze medal on countback with 160 points.
