Play Abandoned Senior Womens

An update has been sent out to all players - play today at the Whakatane Golf Club for the 2023 New Zealand Senior Women's Championships has been abandoned for many reasons.

This decision was made In consultation with all involved in the championship including Golf New Zealand, club officials and the greens team.

Safety for all is the main driver of this call based on the course conditions especially the wetness of many slopes, both national and local state of emergencies declared, the possible call on services and emergency agencies if we needed for any reason, road access in and around Whakatane to and from the golf club, and the forecast for today, especially the morning. Officials are very hopeful that these considerations will not be a factor for play tomorrow to continue and to that end, are working now on arrangements for two rounds played Wednesday 15 February.

This will include round one of the match play championship (as published), and then round two, quarter finals. Semi-finals AM on Thursday 16 February planned, with finals in the afternoon.

The team are already getting ready for Wednesday's two rounds - thanks everyone at the Whakatane Golf Club!
