Hi all - compliments of the season.
Just published by Golf New Zealand, the update on the new face of event management for many tournaments that we have been running on their behalf for 24 years.
From first being involved with the then NZ-based IMG and working on event management at seven New Zealand Open's including the infamous 2002 Open that hosted Mr Tiger Woods, national tournament director with Women’s Golf New Zealand and then tournament management with NZ Golf, now Golf New Zealand – it’s been a colourful, exciting and enjoyable journey.
Yes we are still very invested in golf in New Zealand and look forward to the 2025 New Zealand Open as a sponsor, and rules official (Denise), managing the 2025 NZ Women’s Seniors and Women’s Masters for the last time, in addition to four major multi-course challenges every year – we are passionate about golf in Aotearoa.
We have a full year of international tours this year, many of which are booked out, and a fantastic array of tours already lined up for 2026. We take pride in promoting and supporting the work by Sir Richard Faull and his team at the Centre for Brain Research New Zealand searching for a cure for Motor Neuron Disease. And our contribution to the Susie Simcock Leadership Award programme that we developed with the Black & White Trust, supporting young females interested in sport, sport governance and leadership.
I (Denise) also look forward to continuing my board role with the New Zealand Golf Industry Council and as a judge on the Course-rating panel for the bi-annual course rankings done by Andrew Whiley.
But for the further success of the tournaments that we have run for Golf New Zealand, we wish Alison and Kerry all the best – time for a ‘new broom’ to put their flavour on these wonderful, well supported tournaments. We wish them well.
See below – GNZ Update published 13 Jan 2025.
Denise & Kim
Golf New Zealand have entered a partnership with a new golf events company Kerali Golf Ltd for the delivery of a series of Golf New Zealand events. Kerali Golf Ltd directors Alison Wieringa and Kerry McFadyen will take over the running of the New Zealand Women’s Autumn Cup, New Zealand Mid-Amateur Championship, New Zealand Women’s Senior Foursomes and the New Zealand Mix Foursomes Championship in 2025 and the New Zealand Women’s Seniors in 2026.
The management and delivery of these events had been previously undertaken by Denise Langdon from PaR nz Golfing Holidays, who stepped away from running these events at the end of 2024 to focus primarily on the travel component of her business. The first two events to be run by Kerali Golf Ltd will be the New Zealand Women’s Autumn Cup to be held at the Mercury Bay Golf Club from March 24-26 and the New Zealand Mid-Amateur Championship to be held at the Omanu Golf Club over Easter Weekend from April 18-20. General Manager of Championships and Golf Operations, Dave Mangan was looking forward to the new partnership.
“This series of events has proven to be very popular among the participants that keep coming back year after year and we have no doubt that Ali and Kerry will continue run excellent events for us around the country. Golf New Zealand has had a wonderful relationship with PaR nz Golfing Holidays who have raised the bar extremely high in terms of event delivery in this country. We wish Denise and Kim all the best for the future and thank them for the job they have done for us in the past. Denise will still work on the 2025 New Zealand Women’s Seniors and NZ Women’s Masters tournament in addition to assisting with Rules at the 2025 NZ Open”.
Kerry from Kerali Golf Ltd said "We are absolutely delighted to partner with Golf NZ to host these incredible tournaments! We look forward to creating memorable events, working with golf clubs around the country, fostering friendly competition, and ensuring plenty of fun for everyone involved."
The dates and venues for the New Zealand Women’s Senior Foursomes and New Zealand Mixed Foursomes will be announced in due course. Entries are open now on golf.co.nz for the New Zealand Women’s Autumn Cup and New Zealand Mid-Amateur Championship.
